TIL #2: Key resources - get your facts straight!

When starting something new, research and preparation are very important. That includes reading books, articles etc, going to events or talking to experienced people. Especially when dealing with your key resources, the corner pillars of your undertaking, you cannot get enough information. And much more important: do not assume!

We based our strategy for the next 6 month on first-hand facts, but also on data we retrieved from our colleagues and friends. Unfortunately some of it was outdated. The situation we are facing now was inevitably, the only thing is we could have known it some months ago.

So always remember, the riskiest and most important parts of your strategy must be based on first-hand facts only.
